Some thoughts to share in ref to the upcoming 2020 Show Season…
Thomas Hancock will again be this year’s Show Circuit Manager. The class list will look very close to the same as the 2019 except we are eliminating all Showmanship In Hand classes except one. Based on the points seems like a lack of interest? We will not be hosting ay AQHA classes in 2019, just not enough local support to pay the extra judge’s fees for having to hire a carded AQHA judge. We are looking into the possibility of adding a few (2) unique and different classes to Wes Ring 2. We’ll keep you posted!
We did some research and went back and looked at Circuit Member participation since 2009 to present. The past 3 years 2017, (no shows in 2018) and 2019 CM registration was DOWN below 100. All previous years we had over 100+ families registered to show with us. So just be aware that with this being our 32nd year of sponsoring open shows for the local horse community, it very well may be the last... Each show needs min participation to pay bills and support the Banquet fund. Thomas reached out on FB and asked if local riders wanted to see a 2020 show series and the response was an overwhelming YES! So our very small group has committed to host yet another set of 5 shows here in 2020. Please come out then and support these shows! And yes we know the dates are not always the best for everyone but Thomas has a busy horse show schedule too and a life outside of being a 4-H Volunteer Horse Show Manager. So the dates were set around his availability to volunteer his day to manage a horse show on that specific date. So again, please ride with our club when you can!
Thanks! Ms. Kim, former MW Show Manager

Mounted Wanderer's 4-H Horse & Pony Club of Charles County will be sponsoring 5 horse shows this year. These shows are OPEN to the GENERAL PUBLIC as well as 4-H Members! The shows are sponsored by our 4-H Club as a Community Service Project to benefit all owners of horses, both young & old who are interested in learning more about what is involved in participating at a horse show with their horse. If you don't own a horse but just like horses, there are lots of bleachers for horse lovers to come out and watch, AND there is no cost to attend as a spectator!
The horse shows offer many different classes, both for English and Western riders. Class types include: Conformation In Hand, Pleasure, Equitation, Horsemanship, Versatility, Over Fences, Timed Events, Hunter Under Saddle, Barrel Racing, Showmanship In Hand and Trail. Points are awarded to Circuit Members in these classes and then a Year-End Awards Banquet is held the following March.
Our Horse Shows are held at Oak Ridge Park in Hughesville, Maryland.
We have a class for every level rider from beginner lead line to novice rider to the advanced rider and classes for young horses in training. Our club puts a lot of time and effort into our Horse Show Circuit and Year-End Awards Banquet. Come on out and have some fun at a locally sponsored horse show offering some pretty awesome year-end awards!
We have tow show rings running simultaneously with qualified judges and over 100 classes at each show!! We start our first ring at 8 am and have staggered start times for the other 2 rings. Our goal is to be done with all rings by NLT 6 pm! Of course each judge is different, so ending times WILL VARY depending on the Judge and circumstances in the show ring that day (i.e. - loose horse, injured rider, etc.)
